Emolene Hydro-Nourisher Cream Review

Winter is here and I love the chilly weather and cool breeze. I enjoy my piping hot morning cuppa in the misty and dewy cold weather. Though we enjoy the winter season it comes with a lot of health problems too. One of the main problems we need to deal with is dry and itchy skin. Skin is the largest part of our body and will go through lot of changes be it physical or environmental. As human beings we give lot of importance to how we look. Automatically the attention is drawn to our face when people first notice us. Nobody wants to be seen in dry, flaky and itchy skin. I came across this nice affordable moisturizer ‘Emolene’ cream when I was buying some tablets at the chemist.

It read on the carton as for dry skin treatment, the hydronourisher that restores the natural moisture balance. The moment I saw I knew this cream was meant for my skin.

Emolene Hydro-Nourisher Cream

Fine let’s take a look at the composition the cream contains:

Propylene glycol 15mg, Diazolidinyl urea (preservative) 1.5mg.

Yep you guessed it right it contains nothing more than one main ingredient and that’s it.

Let’s get down to the pros and cons now:

Pros –

  1. The cream suggests it is cream based but the      consistency is more or less like a mixture of cream, lotion and gel.
  2. The cream is not at all greasy or sticky and just glides on the skin in a jiffy.
  3. It does not contain loads of nasty chemicals      which usually moisturizers have. Just one ingredient Propylene glycol and Diazolidinyl urea as preservative and that’s all.
  4. The emolene cream does moisturize my skin      very well and leaves a healthy glow on my face. It covers dry patches around the eyes and mouth.
  5. It suited my dry skin and it did not break me out or cause an allergy. I suggest even oily skinned people to give it a try.
  6. Works as a good makeup base and can be worn under sunscreens too.
  7. It does not have any side effects and can be      safely used on babies also.

  1. The only con is that it may not moisturize      extremely dry skinned people. They may have to go for some heavier moisturizing creams.

Priced at Rs. 102/- and available at any drug store. So here we go!! Just buy this very affordable moisturizer this winter to keep dry, patchy skin away.

i hv one query about emolene cream
m strt using the emolene cream as suggested by my doctor but it makes my face complexsion darker nd ol d spots are clearly visible so is it okay to use emolene? can i use lacto calamine after using emolene

    • Hi Swarnika

Thanks for stopping by. First of all I would like to know your skin type and if at all you are under any medication or therapy. I do agree that emolene cream sometimes tend to make the complexion darker. That’s because if the skin is too dry you may need a heavier moisturizer. Emolene may not work well if the skin is very dry or flaky. For that I would like to suggest that you apply small quantities of emolene cream in frequent intervals. Don’t use large quantities at once. Try applying the cream immediately after taking bath when your skin is still wet. That locks in the moisture well. You can apply lacto calamine on top of emolene but make sure you use a good sunscreen if you are heading out in sun. Mild exfoliation atleast once in a week does wonders to the skin by removing dead skin that would have accumulated due to sweat, pollution and many other factors and reveals a brighter complexion. Try this and let me know how you feel.

        thanku fr ur suggestion anu
ya hv consulted a skin docter nd d docter had prescrided me a night cream nd morning cream nd also emolene cream so is it okay to use natural or scrub to exfoliate my skin
        nd i hv oily skin

        • If you are on acne treatment medication, then it’s a safe bet to use emolene as it does not clog pores and is great for oily skin. Use a mild cleanser to wash your face. You can apply home-made scrub which is mild and gentle yet effective. You can go through my other posts and reviews on moisturizers and home-made scrubs. Have posted a review on Aloederm moisturizer you can try that too.

    • Hi Bharti,

Oh! Wow normal skin is a blessing :-) Emolene is very safe to use even on babies. It can be applied on acne prone skin too as it is non-comedogenic. It is a great moisturizer and suitable for all skin types. You can go through my other reviews and posts for moisturizers.

I have just started using emolene cream to even out my skin tone. I had started getting light patches on my cheeks. It seems to hydrate well.

I think Venusia cream works well for drier skin. It works really well on elbows. I have used it on my face also, and have loved using it.

    • Thanks for stopping by priya. Yeah I do agree priya that venusia cream is much better for very dry skin. I’ll be reviewing the same soon. But emolene cream is a no nonsense cream and can be applied on babies too :-)

  14. Thank You!!! :-)

  15. Lavina

    Hi Anuradha

  16. Lavina

I’m suffering from an skin reaction since 3days after using Clindac A. I’m getting itching, rashes and slight pigmentation on my face. My dermat has advice me to use emolene cream. I’m really concern and scared to use it. Will it cause any further reaction? Please help :-(

    • Hello Lavina!! Good to hear from you. I believe you are on an acne treatment therapy, where it’s bound to cause redness, itching and dryness. Your dermatologist has suggested the right cream for you. It is the safest Hydro Nourisher and relieves dryness and other conditions caused by your acne medications. Probably you can taper your acne creams a bit and start applying emolene cream. Once you get relief, you can start all over again. I hope this helps you!!

    • Hello Nahela,
Good to hear from you. Definitely the cream is going to work and do wonders for any type of skin. It is basically a safe Hydro-Nourisher which is meant for dry sensitive skin. Try using it nightly and if you want to use in the mornings too apply a good sunscreen on top of the cream.

hi anuradha…ive read ur blogs of emolene….the thing is that uve been saying that it is the safest cream hydro nourisher n all stuff…but can i use this emolene cream without taking the acne medication…does it break out the acne pimple

    • Hello Kunal,
Good to see your comment. Emolene cream is a moisturizer which is meant for dry and sensitive skin types and is not an acne treatment therapy or medication. You can use emolene cream in conjunction with your acne treatment medication if you have dry skin :-)

  22. Sandeep

Hi my oily skin has some scars. can i use emolene cream?

    • Hello Sandeep,
Emolone cream is a moisturizer and not a scar removal cream. It’s a hydro nourisher which keeps the skin smooth and supple :-)

    • Hello Syed,
Emolene cream is a moisturizer which soothes dry skin. You can safely apply this cream as advised by your doctor. Apply a good sunscreen in the morning when you are going out in the sun to avoid sun burn and pigmentation.

  26. Shalini khanna

Hi Anu! Shalini here… M hppy to be connected to u n wanted to know abt Emolene cream as my dermotologist prescribed me to use this on my face… My is skin is normal now.. So is it advisable to use this… My skin is fair bt gives a dull appearance so what should I apply on it to make it attractive…pl pl guide me…..

    • Heya Shalini,
Thank you so much for stopping by. Emolene is an excellent moisturizer for dry skin and gives a nice healthy glow when applied regularly. Use a very small quantity of the cream for the entire face every night before hitting the bed. This cream is suited for all skin types. Excessive exposure to sun will cause dull skin. Apply a good sunscreen every morning with an SPF of atleast 30 when you are heading out in the sun.
      Anu :-) :-)

  27. Ruchi shah

I m suffering from fungus infection on my face…I have an extremely dry skin…my doctor asked me to use emolene cream during the day and momate cream on my face at night on the affected area…
But she didn’t tell me to use only momate cream at night or a mix of momate cream and emolene..
    Plz suggest…

    • Hello Ruchi,
What’s up? Thanks for stopping by. Momate cream is a steriod used for a wide range of skin conditions that includes allergies, eczema, psoriasis, and rash. It must be used with caution, since it may cause adverse effects. You can mix a small quantity of momate cream and emolene and apply it on the affected areas only in the night. Apply emolene cream alone on your complete face in the morning after washing. On top of that apply a sunscreen suitable to your skin type. Emolene combats the dryness caused by Momate cream. Hope my reply helps you.
      Anu :-)

  28. jayshree

Can emoloene use before make up ? I have a oily skin

    • Hello Jayshree,
Thanks for stopping by. Emolene is a hydro nourisher just like a moisturizer. It works well as a make-up base too. It is very light and can be used under make-up.
      Anu :-)
