Gmail Android app is going to have Ads soon

xphoto_1380569866_temp.jpg.pagespeed.ic.Vx5YQxN7T_Gmail app for Android devices may get ads after the latest update. The android Police website revealed that in its latest 4.6 version app a new library called ‘Ads’ has been added and users can save these ads as messages.

Google which remained ads-free until now in mobile apps is rolling out this new feature with the latest capability. Gmail web version already has ads featuring in it.

The new update also comes with a new design for conversation view and a number of tweaks such as checkmarks for selecting multiple messages.

They have added features such as reminders for users in case if there is an unsent mail in the draft section.

Advertising has become the main stream earning for Google. The company’s total advertising revenue in April-June quarter stood at $12 billion, accounting for approximately 85% of its revenue for the period.

Online marketing research firm eMarketer estimated that 33% of global online ad revenues in 2013 will be spent on Google networks. And Google is also planning to take up around 53% of total mobile advertising revenue for 2013 with this new app.

It’s not yet known when Google will introduce ads via its app.
